Our Story

Senior Helpers, experts in Alzheimer's and dementia, have partnered with the George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers, Inc.® to bring a unique day center experience to seniors with Alzheimer's across the county.

The George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers, Inc.® was founded by Dr. George G. Glenner and his wife, Joy Glenner. Dr. Glenner was a physician and Alzheimer's researcher at the UCSD School of Medicine who became world-renowned for his research and identification of the beta-amyloid protein. This protein is considered the hallmark of Alzheimer's disease and has allowed researchers to make valuable inroads.

The Town Square® concept is the Glenner Centers' newest day center design and features immersive Reminiscence Therapy for its participants. Reminiscence Therapy uses tangible prompts from the past to bring individuals back to a time where their memories are the strongest. The center is designed to replicate a 1950s town in an effort to facilitate reminiscence which studies have shown can improve mood, improve sleep quality and reduce agitation. Town Square® includes 14 individual storefronts that offer interactive activities for seniors to enjoy.
